Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins tonight at 8:15pm in Landover, MD.
I have already stated that I am a Cowboys fan. Yup I am from the DMV and I say f the Redskins. The last time the Cowboys and the Skins played the I was disappointed by the Cowboys. Their plays were mediocre at best, they were cocky for no reason which is evident by the fact that they lost and their minds were not in it. Considering that was the last time they would play the Skins at Texas Stadium I expected more.
Tonight I am hoping they come through. This is a big game for us. Not only are the Skins our biggest rival so we need to beat them but if we lose this week it puts us in last place in the NFC East. We are talking playoffs people.. its just around the corner and the Cowboys should be in a much better position then they are currently. At this point just winning this game tonight still means they have to bust their asses for the next 6 games or its a wrap.
I am hoping the Cowboys used the bye week to get their minds right and come up with the best defense and offense to take on the Redskins. Despite not liking the Redskins I know they are going to play hard and try to use that home field advantage.
So in closing the Redskins are going to come out to play tonight. The Cowboys better do the same.

You're cute....for a dark skinned girl.
Let me set the scene for you. Out in a lounge. A girl is dancing and a dude comes up behind her. They begin to dance.
Dude: You are so sexy and chocolaty. What's your name?
Girl: Thanks.. Ms. Fashionista (clearly not what was said but you get it). Yours?Dude: Charlie..You are a good dancer can I get your number?
Girl: Thank you. I have a man.
Dude: So what you can't have friends? (Why do guys ask this?.. That is a different blog topic though)
Girl: I have friends.
Dude: Well you're cute for a dark skinned girl. You really aren't going to give me your number?
Girl: No.. that's ok. (At this point the girl is shocked and appalled. The song ends and she walks away)
Now the girl wanted to go off on the dude but you never know the kind of people who you will encounter when you are out. So she calmly walked away.
Sadly this is a true story that happens a lot. Just a day prior to this happening, one of my homegirls called me up to tell me that a guy had dropped that line on her. WTH.
I swear I have heard this comment so many times and my immediate reaction is to jab the guy who is saying this. Especially because he feels like he is complimenting me. I am sorry but saying that I am cute FOR a dark skinned girl doesn't really seem like a compliment. First of all, I am 26. I don't want to be considered cute anyways. Secondly, for a dark skinned girl. Are you implying that dark skinned girls are ugly and that I happened to luck out? That is such a slap in the face. As a society is there still that stigma attached to color of your skin in the black community?
I love my chocolaty complexion. I have never had a problem with being dark and that really has a lot to do with my mother. She always raised me to love everything about myself. Anyways, I was watching an episode of the Tyra Banks show. (Yes again.. I love it) There are a lot of girls out there with complexes when it comes to the color of their skin. They go to the extreme of using skin lighteners and bleach. The reasons they gave for wanting to be lighter were, "Life is easier when you are light", "Growing up the teachers wouldn't help me because of my complexion", and "Men like light skinned women".
Sure in the past there was a line divided and if you had a lighter complexion things could be better for you. Look around though, it is 2008. Why the hell should any of that matter?
I have embraced my skin. My year round tan works for me and I am proud of it. I wish more people felt the same way. So when they hear a comment like that it shouldn't be taken it to heart nor make you question why you have the complexion you have. Just look at the person and know they are not on your level.
Please note if you are reading this and you are thinking of bleaching your skin please see the link below. There are serious health risk associated with this behavior.
